Vancouver, BC

Oh Canada!

Our family trip to Vancouver, BC, was a great vacation.  It was everyone's first time to Canada, except Matt who tells glory-day stories of crossing the border of Michigan.  Does that count?

We flew into beautiful Vancouver and were greeted by perfect weather.  Sunny, warm, and pleasant.  We are lucky to have good friends who live in West Vancouver who offered for us to stay at their house.  It was nice for us to catch up with friends, and nice for the kids to have other kids to play with.  Gorgeous view from the house:

The BIG hit of our stay was Woody, the 8-month old adorable lab:

A short hike from the house to walk Woody got day 2 off to an amazing start:

Pics taken during our hike:

Next up was a ride up to the top of Grouse Mountain.  Beautiful!

The views were stunning and the kids got to play with snow!

Day 3 we took a trip to Whistler, about an hour north of Vancouver.  LOVED Whistler.  The drive there was beautiful and once there I was in awe of the views.

Peak-to-peak gondola ride:

More snow!

Ainsley took a picture of us :-)

Chair lift down the mountain:

Happy Ainsley!  She begged us to do the chair lift for hours!

At the bottom of Blackcomb mountain there was a kid's village that was full of fun.  We spent hours there with various activities.  The highlights were the trampoline and cars.

Ainsley harnessed and excited for the high jump trampoline:

Back flips!  (She did about 20 of these)

Jack's turn!  No flips, but he went high and loved it!

Kara's turn! (also no flips, but lots of smiles!)

Next up: Race cars!  This was their favorite.

At the end of a long day enjoying Whistler the kids had huge two-scoop cones.  They melted before they could finish them, but it was fun watching them try.

It was a great vacation.  We thoroughly enjoyed every minute and have fond memories of our time in Canada!

Family Road Trip

For our summer vacation we took a road trip to Arkansas, where good friends of ours invited us to spend a week at Beaver Lake.  We left Austin on Saturday morning and stopped in Oklahoma for one night to visit Nanny.  Sunday morning we drove to Arkansas -- we stopped in Bentonville to load up with groceries for the week and then drove to Beaver Lake (total drive time ~9 hours).  We spent four nights at Beaver Lake and we all had a blast.

Most of our time was spent on the boat.  Jack's favorite spot was the front of the boat, which he didn't like to share.

We also enjoyed swimming in the lake.  Beaver Lake has beautiful water and the temp was perfect for swimming.

Ainsley LOVED tubing, she couldn't get enough of it.  She is the one on the right in the pic below:

Ainsley also learned to ski!

We had an amazing time.  Good friends, quality family time, fun, laughs, and memories.  A great way to spend the 4th of July!!
