26 Diapers Per Day -- that's just how we roll in the Diamond house

Today we decided to start potty training Ainsley. Just too many dang diapers in our house! Even if it takes her a while, at least we feel like we are trying to make progress towards only having two babies to change instead of three.

We had a great week and weekend. We are tired, but definitely enjoying having everyone together. Dave and Barb continue to be a huge help to us. They are making the adjustment from one kid to three so much easier on us.

Jack is Home!!!

Today Jack came home from the NICU. Ainsley went with us to the hospital to help bring him home. Kara had an appointment with her pediatrician so she went with us too. Thank goodness Barb and Dave were able to go with us and help. What a handful we have now :-) It was raining this morning so we were unable to take the stroller and instead took a taxi home. It was a full taxi! We are happy to have everyone at home now. No more trips to the NICU and our family feels complete.

Ainsley had fun going through her trunk of goodies this morning from her friends back in Austin, Kendall and Drew. Her favorite find today was the rain boots. The dress and shoes she wore to the hospital was also from her trunk of goodies.

Daddy and his girls! Jack will come home on Wednesday - Matt is going to need another arm when Jack comes home :-)


Big sister Ainsley is SO proud of her little sister. She likes to help change her diapers, tells us when it is time to put her in the bouncy chair and is always looking for sister Kara (she can't say Kara yet, but she can say baby).

She also likes to make her self at home in all of Kara's things. Whether it be her crib, the pack and play, the bouncy chair, etc, Ainsley likes to make sure that everything is shared. She has also taken a brand new liking to her baby doll (see below).

Kara's Homecoming!

Today we kept Ainsley home from school so she could go with us to pick up Kara from the NICU and bring her home. Big sister Ainsley did really well on the journey and seemed to enjoy having her sister at home today. She helped us change diapers and even tried to share her goldfish with Kara. It was very cute.

Once we got home Ainsley wanted her sister to be with us and was really sweet with her...


And here is Kara! She may look big here, but the outfits she is wearing is Preemie size and it is still a bit big...

We will post more pictures this weekend. Hopefully Ainsley will continue to enjoy having her sister home. Jack is out of his incubator now and should be coming home next week!

Kara is over 4 pounds!

Kara is out of her incubator! Jack is still in his incubator, but Kara has graduated to a "cot" in the NICU. She is also drinking most of her meals from a bottle now, rather than a feeding tube. If she is able to maintain her temperature and continue drinking from a bottle they will let her come home in just a few days!

Jack now weighs 3.7 pounds and can drink from a bottle, but cannot finish a full bottle quite yet.


Kara is up to 4.2 pounds!!!!


Ainsley had a good week and weekend. Lots of swimming, playing, and quality time with the family. She even got to see Jack & Kara for the first time! She waved at them and said "baby" and then quickly turned her attention to a bird outside the window - obviously more exciting :-)

Happy 4th of July!

Ainsley has had a fun week with the extra attention she is getting with Grandma & Grandpa D in town. We didn't do anything special for the 4th of July, but we spent lots of time at the pool over the weekend and had some good family time.

Kara & Jack (pictured below in that order) are doing well. Both are off of the IV's now and gaining weight. They are back up to their birth weight and are making good progress. They are still in the incubators to help regulate their temperatures. They are 10 days old...

New Additions to the Diamond Family!

What a crazy couple of weeks we have had! A two week hospital stay resulted in the birth of our precious new babies, Jack & Kara. They are both very small and will need to stay in the NICU for a few weeks, but they are doing quite well for preemies and have begun to take on a good amount of food each day. They are still fed through tubes but should be able to switch to bottles within another week. They were both treated for jaundice but had mild cases that appear to be resolved now.

Ainsley has seen her brother and sister, but we decided she doesn't understand. For now she just knows that mommy can't pick her up, there is a lot of extra baby stuff in the house, and Grandma and Grandpa D are in town for a visit.

As Jack & Kara come off of the IV drip and feeding tubes we will get some better pictures. I have only been able to hold each of them once so far. We are very much looking forward to them growing and getting strong enough for us to hold them during our daily visits to the NICU.
